She has built a successful career in both film and theatre in Iceland in the last 20 years. 

Her debut feature as a director, BAND (2022) is a docu-fiction about her own band, The Post Performance Blues Band. It premiered at Hot Docs and became a festival favourite, screening at major international festivals worldwide.

Alfrun works across mediums to explore themes such as failure, feminism, and vulnerability, always seeking out humour and hope in her storytelling. 

She is currently developing her next feature film, Shitballs, scheduled to begin production in 2026. When she is not writing screenplays or directing for the screen she keeps busy by staging major theatre shows like the Alanis Morisette musical, Jagged Little Pill.
